A Quick Look at Extrusion Process

The quick definition of extrusion process

Extrusion is a process used to create objects of a fixed cross-sectional profile. A material is pushed through a die of the desired cross-section, in material up to 400-500 Celsius. The aluminum alloy can be extruded intodifferent shapes, including tube, linear and profile shape.

Simply put, as long as the cut sides are uniform, they are a perfect fit to manufacture using this process. The two main advantages of this process over other manufacturing processes are its ability to create very complex cross-sections, and to work materials that are brittle, because the material only encounters compressive and shear stresses. It also forms parts with an excellent surface finish.

Applications of extusion process

Mostly, the products made from this process can be divided into two categories - industrial use and those used in our everyday lives. For the former, they can be used in construction, the material for aluminum door/ window, the backbone for garage and freezer, and material for decorating, to name just a few.

We can also see them in our everyday use. For example, the armrest and pedals in bathroom, the backbone for sign board in airport and hospital, the frame for whiteboard, the slide rail in your drawer, the crutch you see in a hopstial. The application of this type of machining process is infinite.
