Major Types of CNC machine

Mills

CNC mills are controlled by pre-programmed instructions to shape or cut various materials for industrial applications.  The work-piece is precisely processed when cutting tools follow preset pathways.

G-code is a standard programming language that manufacturers use to operate their machines.  However, some innovative CNC machine makers prefer to their proprietary language to maintain their market share.

Lathes

CNC lathes are mostly used to cut spinning metal bars in order to produce fast and precision metal parts, amazingly standing out from old manual machines.  While working, CNC machines are equipped with cooling pumps that rinse the work-piece with cool oil.

Electric Discharge Machining

EDM refers to the concept of spark machining, spark eroding, heated die sinking, or wire erosion.  It literally means a desirable shape comes out after the work-piece has gone through electric discharging process.

Parts of the raw metal have been chipped or peeled off with constant current discharges between two electrodes, until the product is completed.

Laser Cutting machine

Laser beam is directed at the object, and gradually sculpturing by burning, melting the material, and then leaving fantastic effect of surface finish.  Industrial laser cutters are generally applied to the processing of metal sheets and pipe-shaped objects.

Water Jet Cutters

A water jet cutter is able to slice into the heart of the processed object with a powerful stream of water spurting out under pressure.  Water jet will be an ideal tool when a required material is sensitive to temperature fluctuation.
