What is CNC Turning Process?

Turning Process

That is, the part is rotated while a single point cutting tool is moved parallel to the axis of rotation. Turning can be processed on the external surface of the part as well as internally, which is also called boring. The material used for this production is generally a work piece generated by other processes, such as casting, forging, extrusion or drawing.

Shortly to say, in CNC turning, bars of material are held in a chuck and rotated while a tool is fed to the piece to remove material and create the desired shape. When the center has both turning and milling capabilities (pictured above), the rotation can be stopped to allow for milling out of other shapes. This technique allows for a wide range of shapes, sizes, and material types.

Machine Factory

In the operation of a machine factory, CNC turning a machining process used to make cylindrical parts, where the cutting tool moves in a linear fashion while the work piece rotates. The rotation is performed using a lathe, turning process reduces the diameter of a work piece, typically to specify a dimension and produces a smooth part finish.
